Started with two major courses in 2020 – Basic and Advance Modules in Sleep Medicine, the institute has trained 200 Doctor/Therapist/Technician, majority of them rating the quality of course 5 star.

A Vision That Started the Journey
A Message from the Founder & Director
Sleep has always been an essential pillar of health, yet for many years, sleep disorders remained under-recognised, under-diagnosed and inadequately treated.
When I began working in the field of sleep medicine, I recognised a significant gap—not only in awareness among patients, but also in structured education and practical training for healthcare professionals. This realisation became the foundation for the Sleep Medicine Institute (SMI).
SMI was envisioned as more than an educational platform. It was created to build a community of healthcare professionals who could learn, collaborate and contribute to the growing field of sleep medicine.
About Dr. Manvir Bhatia
Dr. Manvir Bhatia is a Senior Neurologist and Sleep Specialist with more than 30 years of experience. She is Vice President of the Indian Society for Sleep Research and author of "The Sleep Solution", the first non-fiction book on sleep in India.
She completed MBBS in 1981 and MD Medicine in 1986 from Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana, and DM in Neurology in 1993 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. She joined the neurophysiology lab at AIIMS, Delhi, where she was a key player in initiating the epilepsy surgery programme. In this role, she was deeply interested in the nocturnal events experienced by patients, and this started her journey into the field of Sleep Medicine. She visited the Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, for sleep medicine training and for pre-surgical evaluation for epilepsy surgery, with emphasis on video EEG monitoring at UCLA, Los Angeles, USA.
She started the country's first sleep disorder clinic in Neurology services at AIIMS, and founded the Neurology Sleep Center, New Delhi, in 2008, to offer comprehensive neurology and sleep related services under one roof. During her career as faculty at AIIMS, she trained residents in clinical neurophysiology, and has continued to do that. She co-founded the Ace School of Sleep Medicine in 2012, and then the first of its kind online learning platform, Sleep Medicine Institute, in 2020, for training physicians and paramedics. She is also a member of international and national bodies of neurology, sleep medicine and epilepsy.
She has contributed to the national OSA and Insomnia Guidelines, and conducted awareness programs on sleep disorders in the community, celebrating World Sleep Day for more than 10 years. She has given interviews on TV and radio for popular channels like Times Now and Big 92.7 FM, and in print media for Navbharat Times, HT Media and others.
She has completed the Ambassadors program at ISB for the 10K Women Entrepreneurs' program, and the masters program at ISB in 2014 and 2022. She is the recipient of the Indira Gandhi Mahila Ratan Award, and the AAPIOS in 2017, for extraordinary contribution in sleep medicine and for increasing awareness of sleep medicine throughout India.
